21st Century Corona Generators

Corona generators have traditionally relied upon Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs) as the main switching component. We at Encore found the SCR based generators to be inherently inefficient and cost prohibitive. So we created a new standard that is capable of substantially higher treat levels while retaining the same size and weight.

Higher treat levels produce superior results. But continuous operation at high levels leads to failure of the SCR based generators and corona transformers. High temperatures during the summer and water condensation in the treater station only compound the problem. Breakdowns were frequent, repairs always necessary.

The solution is the IGBT-based generator designed by Encore for the Prism™ line. Compared to the traditional SCR generator, Encore’s is smaller, lighter, faster, smoother, more precise, and much more dependable. Its proprietary circuitry uses 'off-time gating' that reduces heating. This allows Prism™ units to be built in a compact space saving design.

SCR based generators have to work more than twice as hard as Encore’s to generate the same level of treat power. Encore’s generators are more efficient, cost less, use less electricity, and are equipped with smart multiple feedback circuitry with a no-switch alarm that makes it easier to avoid poor treat problems.

Even in high-demand applications, the Prism™ generators can operate around the clock without failures. They are the generators for modern applications. And they are perfectly matched by their corona transformers.
